The first serious question in the book is posed by Satan in 1:9. It is answered by Job's behavior.
When God does at last respond to Job in 38:1, it is only to ask a lot of questions of him instead. There is, however, one of Job's questions that does get an answer at that time (Job 13:7-9; 42:7).
